Hi everyone I am thrilled to find this site. I have read this book around 50 time. I read it for the first time in 1973 and did about 10 book reports on it while I was in school . Each time I read it is like the first time. Once I got out of school I didn't read it for about 15 years I tried to find a copy for myself but no luck. Then one day I was in goodwill looking at the book section and there it was. It was like Christmas morning when your a kid. It cost me 50 cents what a steal right. I thought they were something a wrong with me when it came to this book but I am glad to see they are others out there like me. I have always wondered what happen to all of them after the book was written. When I found this site I was so happy and have read about every thing on here. I will check back often to see what you all put on here. I want to thank all you people for making my day. Randy P.S anyone that wants to e-mail me can at randy@elseycreek.com

Hey Randy, I'm glad you found the site and are enjoying it. I can only imagine the thrill of your "Christmas Day" at the Goodwill store! Something about that book--that's for sure. I enjoyed it as much reading it this winter as ever.

Welcome Randy, One thing about those book reports. I dont know if you have any kids yet or not but if they decide to do a book report on the favorite "old book" of Dad's, it'll be easy for you in that they cant cheat on weather they read it or not. . My son loves the outdoors as I and after I more or less pushed him to read the first chapter, he read it and did the report on it. He got a B on it. Afterwards, I told him he should of ran it by me and I could of told him what to add to make it more weighty (the report). He was amazed after thinking I would have to refresh my memory with the book as i prceeded to answer all his questions about the book. (especially when I recited to him what Jim and Lindsay's Trap lines would take in that winter almost verbatrum) yeah, for us its an easy book report to coach them in. No reading involved for us!
