After over 30 yrs. I was able to read again TLN. Finished it
3/17/09....what an incrediable an hard life they had back then.
An yet so simple, doesn't sound like there was much of a
school back then for the kids, an what a great place to be
if you were a kid that loved the outdoors, the story of the Candian
wilds, an knowing local indians...an this brought back a story I
thought some might like to hear...?....from my own neck of the
woods, though it may not have to do with TLN,,hope it will be ok..
Here in Laketon, IN. about a block away is a slow river called the Eel, that flows into the Wabash about 15 miles away...the Pottawatimi Indians lived in this area, when they first built a covered bridge here, they discovered a indian fishtrap, that is,
large rocks placed in a V across the river funelling fish through to
spear or net, This fish trap is still there an can be seen from the new bridge as you cross. The old bridge is gone...an so are the
large mound of dirt that use to be in front the covered bridge...when they were removing it, many years ago, the discovered it was a burial mound, an 2 giants were found. One was over 8' tall, an the other was over 9' tall, their bones turned
to dust an could not be saved, one was said to have red hair. In nearby Wabash, digging were the courthouse is, another giant over 9' tall was also discovered, giants were also found in MI. at mounds near rivers with fish traps, an several more giants, mounds an fish traps were found mostly in eastern states. Some giants were over 11' tall.....this was a write up in a local paper yrs. ago an the writer said that he didn't believe indians had made these fish traps, since there are only a handful found anywhere, an indians were not known for this type of permanant building, but he speculated that perhaps another race living before or during the time of the indians was responsiable, siting biblicals times when there were giants in the earth....just wanted to share, so few people know or have never heard of this, including me until about 10 years ago....an I lived an canoed this river my whole life!!!.....wonder if anyone else has a interesting story.......my mom will be reading TLN next!!!!! An hopefully it won't be another 30 yrs. for me again!
