Hi Steve Welcome to the web site. Depending if your in the right spot at the right time, you can find an original copy of Trap Lines North for next to nothing or if your not you can pay some Major dollars. Souther Skies has recently republished all of the author of TLN Stephen Meader's books. You can get a new paper back book for $20.00. Go to www.southernskies.com. You will find a copy there. It's pretty much exact as the original book except they've changed the dedication in the front of the book from Big Lindsay Vanderbeck to one of the people responsible for the republishing of the books. Good luck and we hope to hear from you again. Russ Kerr

Great suggestion by Russ. Buy a paperback version first, read and enjoy, then purchase an earlier edition if you so desire. Please share this book with friends that also have an adventurous spirit. Enjoy!

Hi Steve, Hope you got your Southern Skies copy of TLN. I got one last summer just to see what it was like and was quite pleased. The only thing I noted was that the pictures were more or less like those you see in a newspaper, not quite as good as the ones in the regular book, but certainly fine for the price. I donated my Southern Skies copy to the Michigan Trapper's Association kid's raffle last year. I'm sure some youngster will get the same thrill out of reading it as I (we) did at that age . Ralph

I always check myself after reading it (I lost count, probably well into the 80s or 90s...that is xread) THIS WAS their living. It was what they had and the fact the big guy had gone down and the boys and rest o the family were the bread winners was prime. We bask in the fact of what it was and how it charges most of us to the core. to want to be in that same position as they were. Doing it, living it for yourqualiy of life which was a simple way yet a genuine way. It had to be very tough at times.

I got really lucky and didn't realize it. I went to a DAV thrift store book sale (they have a separate warehouse where once a month they sell books for .25 regardless of what they are). I bought 30 books...around $7. One of the ones I tossed into the cart was Trap-Lines North. I had no idea what a little gem this book is and I'm eager to read it. They are still out there if you're lucky.

American Book Exchange (www.abebooks.com) list four books ranging in price from $120 to over $2,100 for a first edition book in excellent condition.
