Thought about looking for the spring location this past summer but I ran out of time. With all the logging roads transecting the area my guess is it could be found whithin a few days if you properly planned and oufitted for the hike from the road. Good luck if you go!

While in Nakina in 2009 I asked Millie and Don Bourdignon about the hot spring. Millie and Don trapped with Emile Cote and although they don’t actively trap the line today, still have the rights to a lot of the old Vanderbeck line. They told me they’ve never come across the hot spring. They had never looked for it either. Jim and I talked about the hot spring so I know it’s there. Don’t forget Jim stumbled across it. If it’s still a hot spring I wonder if it wouldn’t be easier to locate in the winter time? A winter trip over the line would be kind of neat, wouldn’t it? Russ

Russ: Just to share a little more with you on the hotsprings. Back when we were up together in Nakina in 2008 remember I stayed back another week (after you left) helping Joanne get all her "Vanderbeck files" straightened out. Well it was that week that I wound up talking to a Natural Resources fellow, and I asked him about the hotsprings. He confirmed too about the hotsprings. At the time even Joanne metioned that there's more than the ones that Jim and Lindsay saw that were in their trapline territory. The ones she mentioned are between Nakina and Geraldton. Nevertheless, he was very nice to mark the one he is aware of on my map. Last year 2009, I was going to go up, but because of the CNR strike I didn't make it up. But at least I managed (while in Thunder Bay with family) like I mentioned in our phone conversation not long ago, getting all that good info about Lindsay's last few years, that Mat will eventually put up on this website. So let's stay in touch cause I'm planning to get back up again with family etc, this year; and am I'm itching to get back to Nakina. Bill was disappointed as we were going to go up the Beauty for some fishing, take in the Bass Derby, and do a search. If you want you can get back to me on my hotmail address or this website. John C.
